Meredith Memorial Retirement Home

When Florence Meredith passed away, she ensured through her will that Belleville area residents of modest means would have a safe, clean and dignified place to enjoy their retirement years. There Meredith Memorial Retirement Home upholds and honors the legacy of Florence Meredith to this day.

The Meredith Home offers affordable independent living apartments to everyday people, regardless of background or religious affiliation. We're located on the square in downtown Belleville; here are just a few of benefits of living at the Meredith Home:

Hincke-Sense Home for Priests

An independent living facility, provides comfortable quarters for up to two dozen of our retired priests. The kindness of Charles and Bertha Hincke, and of Fathers Ermengildo and Joseph Sense, provided the seed funds for this dignified retirement facility for the priests of the Diocese of Belleville.

Facility Manager Joline Beck and her staff invite our priests of retirement age to consider joining their brother priests at the Hincke-Sense Home. The staff provides housekeeping and laundry service, two meals per day and a 24-hour attendant.

The tranquility of this wooded haven was uprooted-literally-in 2002 when a tornado struck the pastoral center grounds. Although, thankfully, no one was injured, the residents had to be evacuated and were unable to return to their homes for a number of weeks during reconstruction. Several trees and buildings at the pastoral center were destroyed.
